Tips to Choosing the Right Roommate
Published on Sunday, 06 December 2009

Tips to Choosing the Right Roommate Do you want to stay in a dorm?  Do you have second thoughts about having a roommate?  It is true that not getting along with your roommate can become a nightmarish experience.  So here are some practical tips that could help you choose the right roommate.    First, before you share a room with anybody, you have to know who are going to be your roommates.  As much as possible, know a little about your possible roommates so you can determine if you can live with them.  You can also try to spend some time with them to see if you can get along with their personalities.    Second, if it is possible, you have to share a room with somebody you already knew. They could be your old friends, classmates, former colleagues, or old acquaintances.  It would be more comfortable to share a room with someone you know than sharing a room with a total stranger.     Lastly, try to establish certain rules in your shared room.  These may involve sharing house chores, clean-up, and going to the market.  You can avoid lots of headaches if there are house rules in your shared room.  If everything fails, then simply get your own room so you can enjoy greater privacy.
