Tips for the Student Move
Published on Monday, 31 August 2009

Tips for the Student Move Tips for the Student Move Student moves are less of a logistical problem, simply due to the lesser amount of stuff you'll need to be hauled to where ever you'll be going. The problem with student moves is that there is more margin for error, and many small removal companies are less meticulous with handling your things. One of the ways to prevent this is to have insurance for your stuff. Make sure that you take a moving insurance policy that is NOT affiliated with the moving company. Never let yourself be forced into taking a policy from the removal company itself. This is to ensure that your insurance can in no way be compromised by company you'll be hiring. Another important thing that you should take extra care in is the packaging of your items. Make sure that all your boxes are securely tape and have adequate packaging inside. Breakable items especially need to be packed with lots of bubble wrap both on the items themselves as well as the sides of the box. Once everything's inside, fill the gaps with either packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper so that there is adequate padding should the transport become rough. Never use containers (like plastic bags) that might rip during transit.
