The Essentials of Packing
Published on Wednesday, 22 July 2009

The Essentials of Packing The Essentials of Packing Packing makes or breaks a move. Improper packaging can very well make the whole moving in process very difficult and stressful, plus the fact that a number of your things might get damaged, especially during transport. One important thing to look out for is the maximum weight a box can hold. Boxes are just think cardboard, so they can only hold so much. So make sure to ask the maximum capacity of whatever size of box you're using and never go more than the limit. Or better yet, just leave a small allowance that is less than the maximum just to be sure. You should also put heavier items at the bottom, because they will be able to sustain the weight of the lighter items on top, unlike when you just throw everything inside the box or container. It's also important that you have packing materials like packing peanuts and newspaper and bubble wrap so your items have sufficient protection. This is especially important when packing breakables. We also recommend that you make an inventory of all your items so you can easily account for them when you get to your destination. Label fragile boxes, conspicuously too on all sides, so that whoever is handling it knows to take extra care of it.
