We all know how stressful and overwhelming moving can be. Moving is not always an inviting event even for kids. So here are ways to make the moving process a little less upsetting for your children:   * Let Your Children Express their Feelings   Encourage your child to be honest about their feelings regarding the transfer. Let them know that it is okay to be nervous; however reinforce the positive things that they will experience like making new friends and changing schools. Also, tell them your reasons for moving so that they will understand why it is happening.   * Inform Your Kids about the Move Ahead of Time   Tell your children about your decision to move as early as possible.  Surprising them is oftentimes not the best way to tell them your decision.  Kids need to be warmed up to a new idea.  Once they have been told about the transfer, let them be a part of the decision and the planning.  Motivate their input into which schools, neighbourhoods and houses they like.   * Let them Participate with the Packing   Let your kids help you with the packing. Kids always love to be included and feel like their help is important.  You can let them pack up their personal belongings. You may also assign important moving tasks to them.   Just keep in mind when it comes to moving with kids, it is important to encourage them to be a part of the process as much as possible. You can be sure that they will feel more secure and confident about moving.  You will notice how quickly they will become accustomed to their new life in a new home.
