Published on Thursday, 24 December 2009 Packing your things is one of the most important aspects of any move, big or small, regardless of the distance from your old home to your new one. Remember that when you pack, your things and belonging are in there, and it would be a disaster to have something get broken, damaged, or lost during the move because of improper packing. One thing to remember is to always pick the appropriately sized box for the job. Medium sized ones are the most commonly used, but there are other sizes you can utilize that might do the job better, especially for items too small or too large for the conventional boxes. Also make sure that you never go near, much less go above, a box's weight limit. Always leave some allowance. Stretching the limit of your box' weight capacity, may make it more prone to get damaged during transit. Some items also need special packing, such as breakable items. When packing your breakables use materials such as bubble wrap and packing peanuts to give your items a cushion of protection. Also label boxes with breakables with big noticeable words such as "Fragile" and "This Side Up" or "Handle With Care" so as to alert any handlers of the delicate nature of the contents.
