An Action Plan for End of Tenancy Cleaning
Published on Tuesday, 10 May 2011

An Action Plan for End of Tenancy Cleaning Cleaning is not something many people look forward to when preparing to move out of their apartment. It is tiring enough to pack and load every box and furniture into the truck. But unless you are willing to give up your security deposit, make sure you are leaving the unit as clean as it was when you first moved in. Cleaning does not have to be a cumbersome task at all. Here is an action plan to help you get over this task as easy and as painless as possible.
Begin with the problem areas
Start with areas that need special attention as these are likely to consume more time. More often than not, this will involve areas that need fixing such as dilapidated ceilings and walls. Patch up holes with fillers and consider repainting to clear up cracks and furniture marks.
Focus on the kitchen
Cleaning the kitchen is a serious job. The presence of all types of food, from crumbly pastries to raw meat makes it one of the dirtiest areas in the house. Be sure to use warm water and mild detergent for scrubbing. Begin wiping the sink then the cabinetry. Don't forget to clean the oven and refrigerator as well.
Leave the bathroom spotless
Pay close attention to the toilet when cleaning the bathroom. Use special solutions and wipe its outer surface. Scrub the tub, sink and floor clean. Replace faucets and shower knobs if necessary.
Give the floor some good old fashioned mop
Once you are done with all the cleaning and fixing, begin cleaning up the floor. You can use solutions to remove stains. If your flooring is carpeted, be sure to vacuum it thoroughly or hire a cleaning company to professionally tidy it up.
Finally, take pictures of your apartment before leaving. This will serve as a proof of the cleaning you have accomplished.
